You find no better place for naturally meeting Mennonites in person then the Waterloo's St. Jacobs Stockyard Farmers Market and Flea Market nearby the King and Weber Streets crossing. In the spring, Mennonite buggies bring fresh maple syrup, early spring flowers, and inventory from the fall season, such as jars of honey, jam, apples and potatoes. The Old Order Mennonites do not mind parking next to modern tractor-trailers. They pitch their desks full of produce in front of the buggy and often the whole family is kept busy serving the customers. Mennonite family members with some free time on their hands browse around, shopping and socializing.
